The presentations given concentrated on e.g. a simplified counting method, measurement uncertainty and quality assurance in cell counting, the benthic cyanobacteria Phormidium and experiments with mussles, algae control with H2O2, the presence of the neurotoxin BMAA in ecosystems and toxin analysis.
After the lectures the participants exchanged ideas about the Dutch cyanobacteria protocol, stating regulations about cyanobacteria analysis, results and risk assessments in Dutch swimming waters.
AQUON was the host of the Symposium. During the day I gave two lectures (in Dutch):
- Simplified counting method
- Phormidium (lecture given together with L. Fleskens from Waterschap de Dommel)
We were glad the Symposium was a success with more than 90 participants from provinces, water boards, water management organizations, universities, laboratories and commercial parties.
