Sometimes it is really satisfying to work on your health and fitness. Build a big salad in the morning, enjoy the Sunshine on your face, do some meditation... and just relax. It is exactly the feeling I get when I look at this puffin ultimately grooming itself during Sundown on Skomer Island, UK. Of course the puffin needs to clean and shine to keep itself healthy, increasing its chances of survival: removing dirt and parasites from its plumage to keep infections and viruses out of its system as best as it can.
This puffin awakened a feeling of relaxation in me and the need for keeping healthy. It is quite obvious, photography evokes emotions, expressing how the scene resonates with our body and mind. Even if we see such a scene antropomorphically (it is our human mind after all, in which these emotions take place)...
A famous Danish street photographer named Thorsten von Overgaard wrote a booklet about how photography relates to our emotional state of being. The booklet is called "The moment of Emotional Impact". He states that "this sort of cuts through all the discussions and questions of doubt about colors versus black and white, if your camera is big enough, if your image is sharp enough. You can instantly tell if it is there or not. [...] Because deep behind all the human mechanics of it, I recognized a possible moment now or in the imminent future I could preserve as a moment of hope and beauty. I simply trust that when I have an instinct to photograph something, it may very well be exactly that."
Emotions and inspiration meet each other, that is when I know the impact of my photography may be great. Yes!
