This week I am looking after a Russian dwarf hamster and 3 cats. With a bit of Sunshine and soft wind, all animals (including myself) are clearly in a siesta mode. Keep it cool, stay relaxed! Everything will be OK! As a photographer, I am used at being patient, to keep a low profile and to stay relaxed even when my heart is pounding (like when an elusive animal shows its face).
But what about landscape photography? Do you only focus on the characteristics of a landscape by merely registration, do you look for a serene detail or do you highlight contrast and anticipate on the light situation? Is it an artistic photograph for wall decoration, creating stress relieve? Or are you building a story? Sometimes it is really difficult to decide on that.
I mostly prefer strong images with color, contrast, light play and a somewhat mystical sphere. It doesn't have to be dreamlike, though it needs an element of surprise and awe, to really intrigue me. WAKE me UP out of the siesta mode, then I believe the job is done. This can also be a set of photographs, highlighting different elements of a landscape. What do you prefer? Which type of landscape photography creates your wake up call?
The attached photograph is taken at the nature reserve Bargerveen in the Netherlands. I loved the splendid colors of the pond, the shadows and the numerous reflections. It can now be ordered as a Fine-art Print. Please go to the link https://www.orbica.nl/fine-art-shop/fine-art-print-collection/ if you are interested. There is a special offer for a package deal till August 31st, 2020. YES!
