Strange things and even stranger... maybe you recognize to be slightly different, to be a drifter instead of going steady on the main stream? I have always been like that - what changed is that I am now proud of it! So strange goes with peculiar traits and experiences. Well, did you know...
• I once got stuck with my rubber boots in the mudflats with a barrel full of oysters on my back, while the tide was coming in quickly? I had been doing research on the oyster banks with fellow researchers and our samples were in my great care. The tide came in as if rush hour had just started and the water was already reaching till my middle. Other researchers needed to come back to free me. We succeeded without drowning me!
• I have been in a small wooden boat during a wild storm with scum on the waves in Poland to photograph White-tailed Eagles in magical light? A photography friend and I had all kinds of blankets and rain coats to safeguard our gear. I was soaked to the bone despite of it, rocked till I got pale and green... It was all worth it when I saw my pictures afterwards! Glad they didn't turn out blurry due to all the moisture in the air and the movement of the boat.
• I once did the penguin dance in a sleeping bag with a photography friend in a wildlife hide to keep warm and flexible during the Midsummer night in Finland? Each their own sleeping bag, you naughty... naughty! I had lots of food to keep my energy running, warm coffee at hand, but was still getting sore and cold all over. It was time for a jumping dance though still as silent as possible (yes, it can be done!) not to scare off bears and other predators that we wanted to capture that night in photographs.
Would you dare to dream of doing these kinds of things, in which you get sucked in, in the most strangest experiences? Be my guest! Been there, done that (as they say), got the T-shirt and the mug.
