I remember... long ago... with a sigh of joy... how I walked the streets of Rouen, Loire, France. I was 14 years old, a young twig in the greens. The Sun was shining brightly, creating dancing shadows on the ancient stones and radiating as if my heart needed a warm embrace. I actually came from a dark place, a brooding mind and despressive state. That day however, was somehow elevated above all troubled thoughts. I needed that warm embrace.
There was a Medieval Festival with people dressed up like royalty and bards in the center of the city. Folk music, dancing on the streets and cheese on bread. Near the Medieval Castle were a lot of stands of a cosy marketplace. I remember I saw nicely cutted gemstones in a lot of these stands, that could be bought to create yewelry, glimmering from all the facets when facing the sunlight. I saw topaz in blue and mintgreen, amethyst in all shades of purple and citrine in golden yellow.
Since that day I have been madly in love with such beauty. I believe we are made of the fabric or fiber of such memories, as if we are wired to enjoy exactly that. The abundance of warm memories, hold them close! Nowadays I create my own pieces of yewelry with cutted and polished gemstones, so I can always shine wherever I go, matching my mood and design (mostly necklaces). My creativity is not only limited to photography!
Talking about photography... in an earlier blog I told about a different memory, how I came about to become a photographer, secretly using my fathers analogue camera. Well... I guess I have an eye for using technique and outer beauty all the same. And now I also created fine-art prints and postcards... I AM A CREATOR, after all, whether it be yewelry, fine-art prints and cards, in writing or only in my mind... being a storyteller! Like one of my supporters used to say:
