White-tailed Eagles are keen opportunistic hunters. They will only fly when they can put it up to good use. Mostly they rest to preserve energy. I saw a lot of them in Poland on the delta. Did you know:
- I once saw two eagles fighting above the delta and they were so caught up in fighting, that they crashed in the water? They can't swim, it was a very dangerous situation. Eventually they scooped themselves out of the water using their wings like peddles.
- that the population in Poland is mostly migratory? Breeding pairs leave for Northern Denmark and Norway to nurture their offspring.
- that this particular photograph was taken during a big storm, with scum on the waves and from a rocking boat? The most heavenly light arrived just in time to light up this big, bold adult White-tailed Eagle.
Do you want to enjoy with me this eagle througout the stormy days on the Oderdelta in Poland? Just from out of your relaxing couch or from your comfy (home) office?
