Did you ever encounter someone who asks you how you made your art? Or if you are not an artist, maybe someone asked you how you built that garage, or fixed the fan or how you came on that bright solution for combining work with your 5 kids at home?
What it all comes down to is how you express your own authenticity. Is there something that is really YOU, from the core, with your fingerprint on it? Or maybe you just found a smart person or instruction video to help you out? Still, your own "touch" on getting there is all about your attitude and initiative. Without it, we would all be robots.
As a photographer finding your authenticity is of utmost importance. There are already enough copycats, thinking "I want that too" or "I can do it better". Originality comes from within, without constantly checking out the competition or an ego barrier disrupting the creation process. Never was anything so destructive as jealousy or anger because you can't have any new ideas on your own. "Everything is already done" is such an anti-climax.
NO. There are plenty of new ideas you can come up with, if you are ready for your own brilliant mind! Take a few deep breaths, find a quiet and inspirational place, watch the shadows and the light change during the day, see all the colors around you... nothing is too green, too red or too blue. I still see a lot of photographic work that is so genius, sometimes even so simple from rearranging books as a conceptual photograph to natural bubbles in ice in an interesting composition along with a single, detailed, delicate feather frozen in. All is new, your own perspective on it is new, unique, AUTHENTIC!
Try your own voice, it is already in you, it is there to EXPLORE!
If you are curious about mine, please read my blogs, I spend plenty of time on writing about art, adventures, peculiar facts... I just love to work on my "WHY", my purpose.
