Waiting, in the most beautiful light, I just sat there on a sandy path in the middle of an Atlantic puffin colony on Skomer Island UK. The loud grumpy sounds of puffins all around me. One puffin head, another puffin head, just sticking out of the vegetation, calculating what kind of bird I am. Their behavior "regulates" my actions. Can I move? Am I not obstructing any puffin route to sea or burrow? Do they feel relaxed? Any tension? Read this:

Nature regulates itself for the greatest part. I just have to be there and wait it out, through sunshine and rain, through stillness and excitement. Eventually, these puffins relaxed in the late light of the evening and I was able to take several magical photographs.
