Sometimes just sitting outside in my garden in silence is really enjoyable. I hear the dripping of the raindrops... I feel the wind stroking my face softly... I see the first beams of Sunlight peeping through the clouds. And when I sit there, life starts to unfold around me. A field mouse approaches the berries, a dunnock tiptoes to the seeds close to my feet and the firebugs wander between the grass stems and the stony path. Somehow life feels kind of easy, not complicated!
It was the same when I went on Holiday in the Summer of 2019 to the Isle of Texel, the Netherlands. Wild rabbits visited the garden of our cottage close to the dunes. I sat there sipping from a small beer... enjoying the yellow gold, hearing the whistle of the wind in the trees, while oystercatchers flew over my head with loud shrieks.
And suddenly... a male pheasant appeared. The bird was strikingly beautiful with lots of colors. I was relaxed and watched the bird enjoying the Sun. He started to close in on me. I heard him stalking the rabbits, his best friends in the cottage garden. I had my camera close to me on the garden table. The pheasant started grooming, neatly working on its colorful plumage. I took a few photos... how crazy beautiful this moment Was! YES! Whoohooo!
I took the photos and later on realized this moment is not only mine to enjoy! One photo of these series is now available in square format 30x30 centimeters in my Fine-art Print Collection.
